More than 100 new homes approved for Ruby / Murdock St

Southwark Council’s Planning Committee resolved to approve a 111 home development just off Old Kent Road, last night.

The scheme, proposed for land bounded by Ruby Street, Murdock Street and Old Kent Road will include housing, retail, workspace and a new church.

In total, 111 new homes will be built in a building ranging from three to 22 storeys in height. This will include 39 affordable homes and 11 wheelchair accessible apartments.

The scheme also includes a new church (to replace the one which currently occupies part of the site) and more than 2,000 sqm of workspace for small and medium sized businesses, including light industrial use.

There will also be retail units at ground level, including a new cafe, facing on to Murdock Street and Old Kent Road.

The scheme was approved subject to conditions and referral to the Mayor of London.
