London Square

406 NEW HOMES: COMPLETE
The London Square development is on the site of the old Crosse and Blackwell factory in the Rich Industrial Estate. It has delivered 406 new homes, including 135 affordable homes. It has also delivered new studios/workspace for local artists and creatives, including Tannery Arts and a new, purpose-built gallery for local arts organisation, The Drawing Room.

Southernwood Retail Park

724 NEW HOMES: UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The redevelopment of Southernwood Retail Park will create 724 new homes and 2,000 sqm of retail and commercial space. The scheme (up to 48 storeys in height) will also include a 195 room hotel and a cinema. The site is being developed by Pilbrow & Partners on behalf of Strathclyde Pension Fund.

Malt Street

1,400 NEW HOMES: UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Malt Street is the biggest scheme currently planned for Old Kent Road. This Berkeley Homes scheme will create 1400 new homes across 11 buildings up to 44 storeys in height. 40 per cent of the housing at Malt Street will be affordable housing and at least a quarter will be for social rent. 131 of the new affordable homes will be built in the first phase (83 for social rent and 48 for shared ownership). Malt Street also includes affordable retail space and a contribution to the new Surrey Canal Linear Park.

Ruby Triangle

1,165 NEW HOMES: UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Ruby Triangle will be built on a wedge of land between Sandgate Street, Verney Road and Old Kent Road. This Avanton development comprises 1,165 apartments, at least 35 per cent of which will be affordable homes. The scheme also includes: a new public park; a sports hall; a tech incubator hub; a cycle hub and new business, commercial and retail space.

Cantium Retail Park

1,000+ NEW HOMES: APPROVED
The Aviva & Galliard scheme to reveleop Cantium Retail Park will create more than a thousand new homes. This includes 363 affordable homes (237 for social rent and 126 for shared ownership). The scheme also includes more than 5,000 sqm of office space across a number of buildings ranging from 3 to 48 storeys in height.

Verney Road

338 NEW HOMES: APPROVED
A mixed use development comprising three buildings (the tallest of which will be 24 storeys). The scheme will create 338 new homes. This includes 112 new affordable homes, 79 of which will be for social rent. It also includes more than 5,000 sqm of business space.

Ilderton Road

335 NEW HOMES: APPROVED
335 new homes will be built at 79-161 Ilderton Road, including more than 100 affordable homes. The scheme comprises two buildings set either side of a new pedestrian square. These buildings will include a number of towers and terraces, up to 28 storeys in height. There will also be a new children’s playground and improvements to nearby public spaces.

Livesey Place

372 NEW HOMES: APPROVED
A mixed-use development by the Shaviram Group on the site of the former Civic Centre and adjacent land. It will deliver 372 new homes including 115 affordable homes, 83 of which will be for social rents. There will be new workspace and a church, as well as a £600k contribution towards the new park planned for Frensham Street depot. The Civic Centre’s Old Kent Road mural will be preserved and reinstalled in the new development.

Devonshire Square

565 NEW HOMES: APPROVED
This Barkwest (Structadene) scheme will create 565 new homes. It also includes retail units and a new public space – Devonshire Square – for markets, events and community activities.
