Celebrating topping-out at The BeCa in April, the first phase of the Ruby Triangle scheme, due to complete next year

The eastern tower of the development at 651 Old Kent Road (known as The BeCa) topped out at 19 storeys in April.

The BeCa, which is being delivered by Avanton and Housing Growth Partnership, will deliver 292 new homes as part of the first phase of the Ruby Triangle masterplan.

The topping out marks an important milestone for the regeneration of Old Kent Road, where up to 20,000 new homes will be built by 2040.

Overall, the Ruby Triangle masterplan will transform a roughly five acre triangle of former industrial land between Sandgate Street, Verney Road and Old Kent Road. It is one of the biggest developments being delivered in Old Kent Road’s regeneration and is being built in several phases, with the BeCa the first to complete, next year (2027).

In total, Ruby Triangle will deliver more than 1,000 new homes. These homes will be a mix of studios, one, two and three bedroom flats, designed to meet the needs of single people, couples and families. More than 40% of the new homes will be affordable housing. At the BeCa, 64 of the new homes will be for social rent.

Alongside housing, Ruby Triangle will also deliver commercial space, shops and cafés, a community facilities and a new public park.
