Now it is your turn to help choose one proposal to develop further.

The competition, which launched in September, is to turn a disjointed public park in South Bermondsey into a valuable and welcoming green space for all, prioritising community input.

The competition has sought innovative approaches to the redesign of Bramcote Park, with architects, landscape architects, designers and artists invited to consider the transformative impact of the masterplan at all scales.

This includes updates to the sustainability and durability of seating and play provision. It also includes public realm improvements and measure to reduce motor traffic along the road that divides the park, to create a unified green space which is safer and more accessible for pedestrians.

The shortlisted teams are:

1. Assemble and Local Works with Assemble Play and Webb Yates
2. Bamidele Awoyemi, Farouk Agoro & Livia Wang with Spacehub
3. John Puttick Associates with BBUK and Heather Burrell
5. OKRA with Build Up, Hortus Collective and Op.x
6. Sanchez Benton Architects with Gabriel Kuri and Nigel Dunnett

The six teams stood out for how their initial responses captured Bramcote Park’s potential as a thriving local hub, as well as their commitment to involving and engaging the community to foster a sense of ownership and to reflect the neighbourhood’s diversity.

Each team was awarded a £1000 honorarium to develop their initial concepts with residents and local stakeholders.

Their proposals are on display in an online exhibition until 12 December. Feedback from this exhibition will be used to inform the final stage of the competition.

You can also see the proposals and find out more at one of two Meet the Teams drop-in sessions. These will be held at the Bonamy and Bramcote TRA Hall (Links Hall) 353 Rotherhithe New Road, SE16 3HF on Friday 3 December from 17:30 to 20:00 and Saturday 11 December from 12:00 to 15:00

The winning team will be announced in January and will continue to develop their proposal with local residents.

The revamp of Bramcote Park has been made possible with funding from the regeneration of Old Kent Road. The project is also supported by landowners Notting Hill Genesis and Optivo .
