The regeneration of Old Kent Road presents a unique opportunity to tackle Southwark’s housing crisis.

In total, 20,000 high quality, new homes will be built in the area, 35 per cent of which (around 7,000) will be affordable including 5,000 at social rent.

The scheme on Ilderton Road is a 46 home development which includes commercial space and a new route through to Hornshay Street for vehicles. The scheme includes 13 affordable homes of which nine will be for social rent. It was approved subject to conditions and referral to the Mayor of London.

Our vision for Old Kent Road is to build on its unique creative character, a place where industry can thrive alongside new homes and quality open spaces.

Since 2015, planning permission has been granted for more than 5,900 new homes including more than 2,100 affordable homes. Several of these schemes are already under construction and more are in the planning pipeline.

As well as new homes and workspace, all of these developments make a financial contribution to projects which will provide additional benefits to the local community; from improvements to parks and open space through to arts, culture and education.
