231 shortlisted for Building London Planning Awards

231 Old Kent Road is a new community space, which was opened by Southwark Council in April.

It’s a place where local residents, businesses and community groups can share ideas and get involved in the plans for the area’s future.

231 is one of three projects shortlisted as a contender for best Community Engagement initiative.

Since it opened, earlier this year, 231 Old Kent Road has been used for a number of exhibitions, workshops and events – all designed to get local people involved in shaping the regeneration of Old Kent Road. These have included the Museum of Us exhibition; Livesey Exchange workshops and, most recently, consultation on the Bakerloo line extension.

The Building London Planning Awards are organised by business membership group, London First in partnership with the Mayor of London, London Councils, the Planning Officers Society London and the Royal Town Planning Institute.

The winners will be announced on 28 January.
