Planning Committee resumes on Monday

Southwark Council’s Planning Committee will meet, online, on Monday 4 May.

Responding to the Covid-19 emergency is the council’s top priority at the moment and Southwark is continuing to focus on critical services.

But we are also getting on with other important work, where possible, to ensure we can get back up to speed, quickly, when this crisis is over. And this means we’re continuing with our plans to deliver the new homes and new jobs that the Old Kent Road area needs as well as taking decisions on planning matters in other parts of the borough.

On Monday 4 May, the council’s full Planning Committee will meet for the first time in over two months using video conferencing. The meeting will be conducted via the Microsoft Teams platform, thanks to a change in the law (brought in by the Coronavirus Act 2020) which allows councils to hold virtual planning meetings. More details here.

Monday’s agenda includes a major planning application for 76-161 Ilderton Road in the Old Kent Road regeneration area.

If approved, this car-free development, located close to South Bermondsey station, will deliver 312 new homes, 35 per cent of which will be designated as affordable homes.

Find out more about this scheme and Monday’s committee meeting on the Southwark Council website.
