Southwark Council wants to improve The Bricklayers Arms and surrounding area.

The Bricklayers Arms is the large roundabout at the top of Old Kent Road.

The council is hosting a series of public engagement events and will work with the local community and a range of designers and consultants to develop ideas and proposals for this part of Old Kent Road.

The objective is to build on the Old Kent Road Area Action Plan and develop place-making principles and an ambition for the area that will meet the needs of residents, businesses and visitors.

The council wants to explore the potential to reconfigure and improve the transport network and create more land for housing. It also wants to repair an historic stretch of high street and stitch the site back into its surrounding neighbourhoods; create high quality public realm; improve accessibility and movement and green space.
