Have your say on a new Pocket Park planned for Murdock Street

Southwark Council is consulting on proposals to create a new pocket park on Murdock Street in South Bermondsey.

Murdock Street, just off Old Kent Road, isn’t heavily used by traffic, so the council would like to use the street to create a new, high-quality green space for the neighbourhood.

The project aims to:

  • Deliver a safe, green link that encourages active travel between new and existing developments, as well as the new and improved open spaces proposed for Ruby Triangle, Livesey Park and Bramcote Park.
  • Address the climate emergency with planting and greening to help clean the air; sequester carbon; address the urban heat island effect and promote biodiversity.
  • Improve accessibility to a renewed, thriving high street and create an inviting space to encourage dwell time (benefitting the local economy).

The council wants your opinion on its draft plans, designed by Erect Architects, in collaboration with Studio Dekka .

The consultation closes on 7 March 2025.
