Work has started to refurbish the north side of Bramcote Park.

The work has been fully funded by local developers to the tune of some £700k in S106 contributions (for both north and south parks).

Blakedown will manage the works which will take around 14 weeks to complete.

The work includes new hard and soft landscaping, upgraded play equipment and new outdoor seating and furniture. There will also be a new orchard and games area (in response to resident feedback about noise from the existing ball court).

Southern Housing, which previously held the long lease on the north side of the park, surrendered its lease in January, enabling Southwark Council to take full responsibility for the site moving forward.

The architects, Assemble and Local Works Studio, who won the park design competition in 2022, have consulted with the local community, extensively, and their feedback has informed the design.

Cllr Helen Dennis, Southwark Council’s Cabinet Member for New Homes and Sustainable Development, said:

“We’re delighted that work is finally starting on Bramcote Park North. Residents have been waiting patiently for improvements, and we know how important this green space is to the community.

Resolving the ownership issues has been key to unlocking this investment, and once complete, the park will be fully managed by Southwark’s Parks team. We look forward to welcoming residents to celebrate the transformation.”

Local residents will receive further updates in the coming weeks, including detailed plans, contractor contact information and opportunities to get involved in community planting.
