British Land is developing plans for a new logistics hub to be built at 6-12 Verney Road (currently home to several warehouses).

If the proposals go ahead, the site (which is located just off Old Kent Road) will be redeveloped as a hub for last mile logistics – distributing goods from suppliers to consumers.

The hub would help fulfil the high demand from logistics businesses for high quality and well-located industrial space in London. It would provide flexible space for a range of users and help them to speed up deliveries to local residents and businesses.

Last mile logistics refers to the final stage of the delivery process when goods move from a logistics hub to the end-user. The hub will receive goods from larger vehicles and relay them to local consumers via sustainable modes of transport, such as walking, cargo bikes or electric vans.

British Land has begun consultation with the local community on its proposals, ahead of submitting a formal planning application.
