Southwark Council opened 231 Old Kent Road in 2019 as a space where local residents, businesses and community groups could get together to share ideas and get involved in plans for the area’s future.

On Friday 18 March, the council is holding a coffee morning at 231 Old Kent Road from 9.30am to 13.30pm

The event is for local residents who want to come along and chat about the new homes, the new community spaces and the regeneration of Old Kent Road as a whole.

This includes residents from nearby Tustin and Ledbury estates where redevelopment is underway.

Architectural models will be on display; council officers will be on hand to answer your questions and light refreshments will be available.

231 old Kent Road was created from an old shop unit at the junction with Penry Street in 2019. Although closed throughout much of the pandemic, that time has not been wasted as the shop has undergone a £140k refit, funded by Section 106 money.

From summer onwards, 231 Old Kent Road will be open to the public once again and the young people’s charity, Southwark Young Advisors (SYA) are due to move in later this year.

The intention is that the SYA will manage the building and will use the upper floors as their base and as a safe space for young people. It will be somewhere that young locals can access support, mentoring and training or simply use as somewhere to study.

So please join us on Friday 18 March.

No need to book, just drop-in and say hello!
